VICS TO PLAY WAITING GAME
Whitletts Victoria will have to wait to find out what division they will be playing in next season after failing to secure the point that would have ensured their Superleague status in their last league match of the 2011/12 campaign.
Vics' tally of 34 points can still be equalled by Ardrossan and Hurlford if those clubs were to win their final league match against Kilsyth and Shotts respectfully, while Girvan and East Kilbride can surpass the Ayr clubs tally if they win their remaining fixtures.
With Dalry already relegated and Lanark having finished below Vics after completing their league fixtures, two places relegation places remain up for grabs. Now Vics' must hope that Junior Cup Finalists Shotts can overcome the other relegation contenders, East Kilbride, Hurlford and Girvan to ensure Vics' place in the Superleague First Division next season, while Ardrossan complete their fixtures on Friday against promotion chasing Kilsyth.
VICS ON THE MOVE TO IRVINE
Whitletts Victoria will play their next home league match against Glenafton Athletic in IRVINE after Ayrshire District League side Irvine Victoria agreed to help the Ayr based junior club with their fixture problems. And Whitletts could also play their other remaining league and cup matches this season at Victoria Park but hope to play their home fixture against Lanark on 5th May at Dam Park with a later kick off time of 3pm.
With Dam Park not available until June, Whitletts Victoria have been forced to approached other Ayrshire junior sides to host Vics home matches until the end of the season and are delighted that the committee of Irvine Victoria have agreed to help the club.
Club secretary Ally McLean said “We are very grateful to the committee of Irvine Victoria for their support in agreeing to help us out with our ground problems to the end of the season. It is far from an ideal situation for the club and our supporters but the situation with the availability of Dam Park has left us with no alternative but to play our remaining home fixtures away from Ayr.”
But Ally McLean revealed that it may still be possible for Whitletts to play some of their remaining fixtures at Dam Park, albeit with a slightly later than normal kick off time. “Our match next Monday will definitely be played in Irvine” confirmed McLean but the only other ‘home’ fixture that has been scheduled so far is our match a week on Saturday against Lanark. As things stand at the moment we will be playing that game also in Irvine but we are hoping that, depending on the other bookings at Dam Park that day, we may be able to play that match at Dam Park with a later than normal 3pm kick off. “
After this weeks away matches to East Kilbride and Thorniewood, Whitletts Victoria's other remaining fixtures this season are at 'home' to Renfrew and Scottish Junior Cup finalists Shotts Bon Accord, whilst they still have an outstanding 'home' Ayrshire Cup quarter final clash with local neighbours Troon, with the winners away to Glenafton in the semi final.

VICS’ OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY
Whitletts Victoria – Ayr’s Junior Club, has been incorporated as a not for profit Company Limited by Guarantee. The move is designed to give the club a community focus and will involve a membership scheme where supporters and members of the local community can become members of the club and have a say in the running of and the future of Whitletts Victoria.
Announcing the new constitution for the Club, Chairman Colin McTrusty said that the new scheme will give the club a stronger link with both the football community and the local community in Ayr.
“This scheme will result in Whitletts Victoria being wholly owned by its’ members who will have the ultimate say in the future of the club and the direction that it takes. In recent years there has been a major turn around in the clubs’ fortunes on the park. Jim Geddes and the players have done a tremendous job and we are now well placed for a promotion push to the Premier League but this is about giving the local community in Ayr ownership and involvement of the club.”
“We are laying the foundations for Whitletts Victoria to be at the heart of the footballing community in Ayr, to give the people of Ayr a stake in the Clubs’ future and develop into a real force in junior football.”
The scheme was devised by Ayr United fans’ group, The Honest Men Trust (THMT), who have been assisting the Club since their forced eviction from their Voluntary Park home last year. THMT Chairman John Dalton welcomed the announcement and said that he hoped that this would be a new beginning for the Club.
“We are delighted that this process has been completed. It was welcomed by the committee at Whitletts Victoria and they have to be congratulated for seeing a new vision and direction for the Club. Hopefully now the local community will see the benefits of having a strong junior side in the town and back the scheme and become involved with the club to ensure not only the future development of the Club but also the local community.”
In line with the Clubs’ new status, Vics’ are launching a new membership scheme that will allow anyone to become a member of the new community based company. Memberships priced at £10 per annum and can downloaded from the Clubs’ website www.whitlettsvictoria.com/col.asp?cid=39, or available from the Club at a home match.
