Manager Update
Although I’ve only been here a short time, I’ve been really encouraged by the professionalism, work ethic and hunger throughout the club. We are in a rebuilding phase, absolutely, but it’s being done with real purpose and a clear direction.
The First Division is extremely competitive this season, a couple of results can move you up the table quickly and that remains our focus. We know how close we are to turning performances into points.
The additions of Sam McCloskey, Ben Black, Stewart Davidson and Jamie Whyte bring strong Premier and First Division experience, energy and genuine competition for places.
We are also excited to announce loan signings from Kilmarnock Football Club that include, Archie Traynor on who is 17 and has played with the Kilmarnock first team and plays for Scotland. Sammy Duruh, who Kilmarnock signed from Motherwell and was on loan with Albion Rovers. Also Duncan Barlow who was on loan at Cumnock last season and joins us following a loan at Annan. Duncan captained the Kilmarnock 18’s who won the Scottish cup last season. Many thanks to all at Kilmarnock who have made the moves possible.
All in, they are very talented players who are hungry to play and are fully committed to being part of what we’re building here in Ayr. Naturally, with those steps also come difficult decisions. I want to thank the players who have moved on for their contribution and the way they have handled themselves. They leave with our respect and best wishes.
I’d also encourage supporters to get behind the team at our next home match on the 22nd of November. There’s the potential for the club’s first cup win since the 1990s and it would be fantastic to see the community come together for what could be a really positive moment for everyone connected to Whitletts Victoria.
